Wynk Studio, launched as an extension of the Wynk Music platform, has made significant strides in supporting independent artists by providing them with personalized mentorship, wide distribution, and opportunities to monetize their music. As of 2024, songs by artists associated with Wynk Studio have surpassed 1.7 billion streams. This success is due to the platform's ability to help musicians gain exposure through playlists, collaborations with other labels, and placements in media such as web series and live events.
Wynk Studio also offers a lucrative path for artists to connect with a large audience while solving key challenges like monetization and discovery. It’s helped over 2,000 independent artists grow their careers. While some of these artists are emerging talents, established musicians like Nikhita Gandhi and Vishal Dadlani have also released music through Wynk Studio, further solidifying the platform's credibility.
However, Wynk Studio is now facing a major transition. Bharti Airtel, the parent company of Wynk, has announced the shutdown of Wynk Music. Airtel will partner with Apple Music, allowing Airtel customers to access Apple Music instead. While this signals the end of Wynk Music as a standalone service, the fate of Wynk Studio’s artist platform remains a key point of interest as it has been instrumental in promoting independent music in India.
